Pro Drag Racing

MDE Motorsport and Mantapart are entering new territory with the development of their "All Motor" IDRA Drag racing Cavalier. The IDRA has many classes of drag competition, and we have chosen the class that relies more on the inherent design potential and tunability of the OEM engine, not the size of a turbo or NOS bottle. The "All Motor" class allows any internal mods and a normally aspirated (non-boosted or NOS) induction and ignition systems.

Our years of development of the GM/Olds-based 2.3 and 2.4 Quad 4 engine give us a wealth of tuning work and dyno testing to give us a 300+HP engine to mate to the newly-designed Cavalier Drag chassis. We are designing a new frt. suspension geometry and dampening system to transmit the maximum allowable power to the track on launch and keep the power on the ground during the entire quarter mile runs. Heavy duty driveline components with heritage from the IMSA International sedan racing days is being updated to give even stronger axles and differentials to handle the abuse of the continual runs down the track. The chassis/body is also being given a high-tech lightening diet with lots of aluminum, Lexan and carbon fibre parts being employed. The Cavalier should weigh in with about a mere 6 pound/HP weight ratio, which should put it in the low 10 second range, so the Hondas should be on their guard!

Look for more details of our Drag racing Cavalier program, we are currently seeking a major sponsor to insure that we can compete for the entire season on the level required to get the Cavalier into the 2002 Championship. Please let us know if you would like to join our efforts to bring the first US-made Sport Compact to the fore front of the small Import/Domestic Drag racing scene.
